Learn More About Our Catholic Community In Tavira

When are the Masses held at the Church?

We hold one Mass each week in English, which is typically at 10:30 AM on Sunday mornings. All are welcome to join, whether you are visiting or living in Tavira.

How can I volunteer for a ministry in the Church?

There are several ways you can get involved! Parishioners can volunteer as lectors (readers), Eucharistic ministers (distributing the host), or as part of the choir to sing during Mass. If you're interested, please complete the contact form and reach out to us on our Facebook and WhatsApp English Community Tavira groups.

Are there any church initiatives I can contribute to?

We are blessed to have a church where weekly Mass has been held for over eight centuries. The church requires on-going restoration and maintenance. We welcome and thank those who generously donate to this effort. If you would like to make a financial contribution to this work, please contact us via the contact page on this site. Donations may be made electronically and anonymously if desired. Bishop Dom and Fr. Miguel offer their thanks to you for the help we have received for these improvements to our Church. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. You can contribute by speaking to us before and after mass.

Can I still come to mass if I am not Catholic?

Yes you can attend the mass. The community welcomes guests and visitors, regardless of your religion. We are pleased that you have joined us. If you are not Catholic but would like to learn more about the Catholic church or become a member, please contact us. We offer exploration and instruction on the faith through weekly catechesis. Please contact us for additional information.

Do you have low gluten wafers as part of communion?

We offer low gluten wafers at communion. If you require this service, please let one of the greeters know prior to Mass. We apologize if you are unable to receive a low gluten wafer, but we do not have additional wafers available beyond the requested number.

I have not been to a mass in a long time or have not been to a Catholic mass. What is the protocol for mass?
